    1. Why is Hodges University tobacco-free?
      Tobacco Free LogoHodges is focused on providing its students, faculty, staff and guests a secure, safe and healthy environment. Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death and disease worldwide, impacting both the consumer of the product and those around them through secondhand smoke. The goal is to reduce harm from tobacco-products to those on our campus.
    2. Can I use tobacco products in my vehicle while on campus?
      No. The use of any tobacco products on university owned property is prohibited. This applies to all motorized vehicles, including cars, golf carts, buses and recreational vehicles that an individual may bring onto any property owned, operated or held by Hodges University. 
    3. What tobacco items are included in the tobacco-free policy?
      Any product made of or from tobacco including, but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, bidis, hookahs, electronic cigarettes (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems); as well as any smokeless tobacco products, including snuff, chewing tobacco, smokeless pouches and any other form of loose-leaf smokeless tobacco are included in this policy.
    4. Who needs to comply with the tobacco-free campus policy?
      This policy applies to all faculty, staff, students, vendors and visitors.
    5. What resources are available to help individuals quit using tobacco products?
      Tobacco Free Florida offers free tools and services to help Floridians quit. These resources are available from www.tobaccofreeflorida.com/quityourway and free nicotine replacement therapy is offered with participation. Resources are also available to faculty and staff through Florida Blue.
    6. What do I do if I see someone using tobacco products on campus?
      All members of the university community are encouraged to speak to someone using tobacco on campus, respectfully inform them of the policy, and request that they comply. It is important that requests are courteous and focused on the values of clean air and a healthier campus environment. If someone responds in a negative manner, simply walk away and refrain from escalating the situation. 
    7. Why is the university tobacco-free and not just smoke-free?
      Hodges is tobacco-free in order to provide a healthy, safe and secure environment for all members of the campus community. All tobacco products are included because they are not a safe alternative to smoking. The overall goal is to reduce the harm from all tobacco products to those on our campus.
    8. Where does the tobacco-free policy apply?
      The use, promotion, distribution or sale of any form of tobacco is prohibited in all Hodges University facilities, on all properties owned or leased by the university, or in publications produced by the university, with no exception. This includes all indoor and outdoor areas and properties. This policy applies to all faculty, staff, students, vendors, lessees and visitors.
