An adjunct faculty member in the Fisher School of Technology at Hodges University, Vin Faris has more than 30 years of experience teaching electronics, electronics systems maintenance, PC hardware, software, operating systems, computer networking and customer support.
His professional experience began in the United States Navy where he received training in electricity and electronics. His training included the Navy’s Instructor Training School and Curriculum Development School. Accumulating more than eight years of experience as a Navy instructor, he was officially designated a master training specialist. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked in computer security. While working for a computer security company based in Naples, he earned a master’s degree from the University of South Florida.
In June 1996, he accepted a position as a PC Technical Support trainer with Sony Electronics in Fort Myers and taught part time at Edison State College. It wasn’t until 2004 that he left Sony and began teaching full time at Hodges University.
In his spare time, Faris enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoys helping at church events and assisting church members in need of help.
