For more than 25 years, Dotty St. Amand has focused her career on the field of aging. An adjunct faculty member at Hodges University since 2005, she teaches in the Health Services Administration program, and her areas of expertise include gerontology, dementia care, social work and health care administration.

A licensed nursing home administrator in Michigan and Florida, she currently serves as the executive director of Arden Courts Memory Care Community in Fort Myers. Her professional experience includes being the executive director of the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center for 15 years and serving as a weekly columnist on the topic of aging for the Fort Myers News-Press for eight years.

In 2010, she established the Lee Elder Abuse Prevention Partnership (LEAPP) elder justice coalition in Lee County, which she is a co-chair, to bring together a diverse group of professionals and community leaders to work collaboratively on initiatives to honor and protect older adults. 

St. Amanda has served on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on Elder Abuse Prevention since 2012, the Board of Directors for Lee County Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, and the planning committee for the Southwest Florida Conference on Aging.

She has presented seminars to hundreds of professionals, family caregivers and consumers on the topic of aging, dementia, elder abuse and caregiving locally, regionally and nationally.

In her free time, she volunteers for the United Way of Lee County and supports many charitable causes. She enjoys yoga, gardening, walking, reading, spending time with family and friends, and most of all, being an aunt.
