The Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM) program provides students with a broad yet comprehensive background of management and leadership techniques and processes that are applicable to virtually any type of organization or industry. The degree integrates the practical and theoretical aspects of effectively and efficiently managing an organization’s resources by studying its behavior, ethics and culture.

Students develop the ability to think critically and strategically, identify and solve problems, communicate effectively, and make recommendations on preferred courses of action. Emphasis is placed on the importance of human resources as the impetus for organizational productivity, quality and success. Students also learn to evaluate the financial condition, assess the impact of internal and external environments, and render a considered opinion regarding an organization’s strategies.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of management occupations is projected to grow 9 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations, which will result in about 878,300 new jobs. Employment growth will be driven by the formation of new organizations and expansion of existing ones, which will require more workers to manage these operations. 

The median annual wage for management occupations was $100,790 in May 2016, which was the highest wage of all the major occupational groups.

What Will I Learn?

In order to begin the management component of the program which may be completed in an accelerated format, students must have an associate degree or complete 60 semester college credit hours from an accredited institution with a 2.5 or better GPA. The prospective student is expected to have the background necessary to successfully complete this program. Each student is expected to present a course in English composition or its equivalent and knowledge of computer applications as evidenced by the student’s transcripts. Any exceptions to the above must be approved by the program chair.
