Stepping Out for Scholarships Event to Benefit Hodges University Students

Hodges University News

On Saturday, March 11, 2017, Hodges University will host its annual “Stepping Out for Scholarships” event benefiting Hodges University’s Friends of the University Scholarship Fund. The event will be held from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at the Grey Oaks Country Club in Naples.

“This is Hodges University’s premier scholarship fundraising event of the year. The monies raised will benefit qualified and deserving students who need financial help in starting and/or finishing their degree,” said Tim Hall, director of development at Hodges.

This year, guests will enjoy an elegant dinner and have the opportunity to participate in a “Treats for Tuition Dessert Dash.” Guests at each table will combine their bids to claim a delicious dessert from the various selections provided by local bakeries, restaurants and pâtisseries. The table with the highest bid will be the first to dash to the dessert table to pick the dessert of their choice.

Additional events throughout the evening will include a wine pull, in which guests can pay $20 for the chance to choose from 100 covered bottles of wine. Similar to the wine pull, guests will also enjoy the wall of boxes. For $20, guests may select a box, which will contain a gift ranging from cash prizes to weekend getaways to golf foursomes to elegant dinners at some of Naples’ finest restaurants.

Hodges will also highlight its alumni leaders featured in the “Follow the Leader” campaign, as well as recognize alumni who were selected as Students of the Year.

"We are proud to host this annual event, which benefits the students of Hodges University and encourages them to continue their pursuit of a higher education," said Dr. Donald Wortham, president of Hodges University. “Events such as ‘Stepping Out for Scholarships’ provide help to deserving students, but are also an investment in workforce development and the region’s stock of human capital, since these future professionals overwhelming go on to work and live in our Southwest Florida communities.”

The presenting sponsor for this year’s event is CenturyLink. Additional sponsors include Stock Development and Stilwell Enterprises.

Tickets for the event are $250 per person or $2,000 for a table of eight. To register online, visit For more information regarding the event or sponsorship opportunities, contact April May at (239) 598-6153 or email
