Southwest Florida Nonprofit Leaders to be Recognized
As we enter the season of
thanksgiving, the Southwest Florida community plans to recognize those
individuals who contribute and make a difference in our community during
National Philanthropy Day.
From 5:00-7:00 p.m. on
Thursday, November 10, individuals are invited to attend the Association of
Fundraising Professionals’ National Philanthropy Day 2016. The event will be
held at Hodges University, in the Stock Building, John White Community Room on
the Naples campus, which is located at 2647 Professional Way, Naples, FL 34119.
This year’s recipients
include Eva Sugden Gomez, Outstanding Philanthropist; Collier’s Reserve Country
Club, Outstanding Philanthropic Organization; Daniel Gonzalez-Vasquez,
Outstanding Philanthropic Youth; and Barbara Oppenheim, Fundraising Executive
of the Year. In addition, distinguished volunteers and distinguished
fundraising volunteers for 2016 will be recognized.

On Thursday, November 17
from 8:30-10:00 a.m., Hodges’ Center for Nonprofit Excellence will host the “Planned Giving Superheroes, When Strategic Gifts Saved
the Day” workshop. Van Pate of
RBC Wealth Management will discuss his work in the financial services industry
as a planned giving consultant. He will also share his experience in developing
strategies for financial advisers in estate planning, retirement planning,
stock option planning, charitable giving, education funding and wealth
transfer. The workshop will be held in the Stock Building, John White Community
Room on the Naples campus – 2647 Professional Way, Naples, FL 34119.
The registration fee is
$35 per workshop, unless otherwise noted. CNE participants who attend four
workshops in each governance, operations or management can earn a noncredit
certificate in the topic area.
