Professor Day at Gartner Provides Insight on Market Expectations
On June 16-17, Dr. Aysegul Timur, dean of the Johnson School of Business
(JSOB), and Dr. Peter Karastamatis, JSOB adjunct faculty member, visited
Gartner for their inaugural Professor Day event.
Based in Fort Myers, Florida, Gartner is a leading
information technology research and advisory company with more than 7,600
associates worldwide. For 35 years, “Gartner has been at the forefront of the
IT industry,” and in 2015, Forbes
named Gartner one of the “Most Innovative Growth Companies.”
The company’s goal for the two-day event for university
professors was to “strengthen the relationship” between Gartner and
universities throughout the United States. In addition, the event provided
attendees with the ability to learn more about the sales organization, as well
as meet top leaders, alumni, interns and sales faculty.
“Our participation allowed us to learn more about market
expectations in terms of professional sales positions, qualifications and
curriculum,” said Timur.
During the event, attendees learned about Gartner’s
recruiting efforts, career advancement, how to leverage Gartner in the
classroom, as well as its 2020 vision for sales.
“This partnership with Gartner will allow us to grow the marketing
and professional sales program, in alignment with the local workforce needs
and market expectations,” Timur added.
