Professional Development Center launched at Hodges University
Hodges University has announced the launch of a Professional Development Center (PDC) which will provide a venue for continuing education opportunities for employees and alumni of the University, as well as for the community at large. Christine Wheeler, Director of the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges, will serve as director of the new development center.
“The Professional Development Center will draw on the academic and service programs already available, and create new offerings to serve the institutional members and greater community,” said Dr. Ron Bowman, Vice President of Student Development. “The Center will become a significant attraction to the alumni, and professionalism, leadership and other attributes will be a focus of the growing alumni association. The Center will offer workshops, speakers, and general skill training in areas of professionalism. As it matures, the Center may offer Certificate Programs and/or Continuing Education Unit programs that complement the existing curriculum of the University.
“The PDC will interface with the Center for Lifelong Learning to offer joint programs of interest. Christine Wheeler’s proficient leadership of the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning has prepared her well for the administration and coordination of this new initiative.”
The Center for Lifelong Learning, the Academic Achievement Services and the Professional Development Center will report to Student Development, keeping all continuing education programs at Hodges together in one department.
