Southwest Florida Educational Institution Recognized for Veterans Services
Hodges University has been listed as one of the top 175 schools on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2016. Rankings are set based on a comprehensive assessment of veteran and military student services, as well as rates of academic achievement.
According to Military Times, more than 600 colleges were included in this year’s annual Best for Vets: Colleges survey and were evaluated on a number of factors determining their ability to provide a proper fit for service members, veterans, and their families. Questions pertained to the array of services, special rules, accommodations, and financial incentives offered to students with military ties. Other factors in the survey include data from the Veterans Affairs and Defense Departments, as well as the IPEDS Data Center, College Scorecard data, and the Cohort Default Rate Database.
“It is a wonderful honor to receive this ranking and recognition by Military Times. Our Veterans Services Center is dedicated to serving those who have served or are still serving,” said Christine Manson, director of the Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center at Hodges University. “We cannot thank our veteran students enough for their dedication and are excited to introduce a new space for them at the Fort Myers, Florida campus. The space features a comfortable lounge atmosphere with computers for student use, information on veteran-friendly organizations, and display cases showcasing student and faculty military memorabilia.”
The Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center was established at Hodges University to support military veterans, service members, and their families in reaching their academic and career goals. Support is offered through a variety of resources, including GI Bill processing, counseling, workshops, veterans’ organization contacts, and community involvement.
Hodges University has also been designated a 2016 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media – a recognition for successfully offering quality military support and resources to help veterans and service members succeed in the classroom and beyond graduation.
