Legal Professionals to Learn about Identity Theft Restoration and Data Breach Response Plans

Legal professionals in Southwest Florida are invited to attend workshops on identity theft restoration and data breach response plans hosted by Hodges University’s Identity Fraud Institute in March.

The “Developing a Data Breach Response Plan for Legal Professionals” one-day workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. March 24. Accepted for six General CLE credits from the Florida Bar Association, legal professionals who are responsible for the security of protected personal identifying information can discover how data breaches occur, as well as learn the consequences of a breach; how to reduce the risk of a breach; identify applicable privacy laws; and develop a data breach response plan. The cost to attend is $345 or $295 for nonprofit and government employees, and the deadline to register is March 17. Individuals who register by March 10 will receive a discounted rate of $275. The “Identity Theft Restoration for Legal Professionals” workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. March 31. Accepted for seven General CLE credits from the Florida Bar Association, six from NALA and submitted to NFPA, attorneys, paralegals and other legal professionals interested in assisting their clients with identity theft restoration and risk reduction are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn about the relationship between the types of identity theft and the methods used by identity thieves, as well as the process to restore an identity and methods to reduce the risk of future incidents. The cost to attend is $345 or $295 for nonprofit and government employees, and the deadline to register is March 24. Individuals who register by March 17 will receive a discounted rate of $275. The Identity Fraud Institute’s continuing education workshops are sponsored by CenturyLink. Individuals who attend any of the institute’s continuing education workshops will receive a Certificate of Completion from Hodges University and proof of CE credits, if applicable.
