Keeping Hodges at the Top of Your Facebook and Instagram News Feeds

Hodges University News

For any business or organization with an online social presence, social media algorithms can often become a difficult path to maneuver. In a world where brands strive to provide information at rapid speed, the way information is delivered, specifically through social media, is constantly changing. This requires brands to find new ways to reach viewers and effectively present their message, that is, before the next system change.

For some time, Facebook has made changes to its algorithm to show posts from family and friends first in a user’s news feed. This means posts from organizations such as Hodges University may be less visible, making it more difficult to share news and updates with our followers. To ensure that you continue to receive Hodges’ posts in your news feed, you will need to do the following:

On your Desktop:

  1. Visit
  2. Make sure you “Like” our page.
  3. Click on the down arrow next to “Liked.” Under the “In Your News Feed” section, select “See First.” Once you have selected this, you are done.

On your Phone:

  1. Visit
  2. Make sure you “Like” our page.
  3. Once you “Like” a page, it will automatically set it to default and show that you “Following” that page. In order to change this, select “Following” and change it to “See First.” Once you have selected this, you are done.

Instagram, whose parent company is Facebook, is another social network that has changed the way content appears in your feed. Before, posts appeared chronologically; however, with the new algorithm, posts now appear based on your level of interest with a particular post or user. There are a few tips you can follow to make sure you do not miss information provided by Hodges University:

  1. Turn on your notifications: Users will be notified when the account has posted, giving you the option to view it.
