Hodges to celebrate Black History Month with free concert
In celebration of Black History Month, Hodges University will present a free concert on Friday, February 22 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on its Naples campus, 2655 Northbrooke Drive. The concert is being sponsored by the Office of Diversity at Hodges.
“Jazz on Campus” will feature renowned jazz flutist Galen Abdur-Razzaq. Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Abdur-Razzaq has performed both domestically and internationally for over thirty years. A former student of the Berklee College of Music, and a graduate of Rutgers University, he holds a master's degree in fine arts and education. He is an arranger, composer, director, educator, and writer.
He has performed and recorded with some of the world's greatest recording artists, including pianist Billy Taylor, Sonny Phillips, Gwen Guthrie, John Patton, Melba Moore, Freda Payne and Sun Ra.
Also appearing on the program will be Darlene Mitchell and Felix Jiles from FJ Entertainment. The concert will be held at the new pavilion and the adjacent lawn.
