Hodges announces Employee and Professor of the Year awards
Hodges University congratulates Dr. Andrew Weyl who was recently named the 2011 Professor of the Year. Dr. Weyl is the Vice Chair of the Legal Studies program and the Director of the Master of Legal Studies at Hodges. He has been with the University since 2004. The Professor of the Year nomination process provides the opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to nominate the professor they feel is most deserving of this recognition.
“I would like to thank everyone at Hodges University for providing a wonderful environment for academic achievement,” said Dr. Weyl. “The University has advanced greatly over the past few years and is now at the forefront of the educational experience in our area. It is an honor to work with so many great people. From the moment I walk in and am greeted by the front desk personnel to the time I leave work at the end of the day, I am inspired by the hard work and leadership of everyone at Hodges. It is a great honor to be named Professor of the Year and I look forward to contributing even more over the upcoming years.”
Karen Karavitis, Institutional Research Coordinator at Hodges, was named Employee of the Year at the institution. The award recognizes her outstanding work for the University in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research. She has been with Hodges since 2007.
“I am humbled to be the recipient of this award this year, for few things of great importance or scope can be accomplished in today’s workplace without pulling together as a team,” she said. “Thus, this honor is shared with all employees at Hodges University who give their best each day in the spirit of collaboration and excellence.”
Each year, administrators, faculty and fellow employees nominate a co-worker for the award with a committee represented by members of the administration electing the winning candidate.
“Dr. Weyl and Karen Karavitis are representative of the quality of staff and faculty that we have here at Hodges,” said President Terry McMahan. “Dr. Andrew Weyl is an exemplary scholar-educator who embodies the high standard of excellence that has come to characterize Hodges University. Karen’s work in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness helps keep the short- and long-term goals of our institution in check, and her diligence in getting the job done perfectly is inspiring. We are immensely proud of both of them and congratulate them on receiving recognition.”
