Hodges University announced today the recognition of Stacey Healy-Dooney, Realtor for John R. Wood Properties, as the recipient of the 2014 Founders Award – an honor presented annually to an outstanding Hodges University graduate who has provided outstanding and distinguished service to our community.  The Award will be presented at the 18th annual Humanitarian of the Year Awards luncheon, Thursday, February 6 at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort.

Healy-Dooney graduated from Hodges University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. “I am deeply honored to receive the 2014 Founders Award,” said Stacey. “My experience at Hodges University was life-changing.  The support and encouragement that I received helped me to change my beliefs about myself and what I could accomplish. As soon as I arrived at Hodges, I knew I was going to succeed.”

In addition to being a full-time mother as well as successful realtor, Stacey has been recognized for her volunteer work in the Collier County School District and was the recent Chair of Pelican Marsh Elementary School’s Annual Family Night. The event was attended by over 400 students and their parents.

She has also initiated the Kindness Tree Project at Pelican Marsh Elementary.  This school-wide project promotes kindness throughout the community. For this initiative she collaborated with the Student Council to create and organize a student-led fundraising dress-up day which raised student donations to support the Immokalee Foundation. She hopes to take the initiative to other schools in the area.

“We must all work together to encourage and empower young children to believe in themselves and their capabilities as the future leaders of our community,” she says.

Stacey will be honored along with J. Dudley Goodlette, the 2014 Humanitarian of the Year. For more information, phone (239) 938-7826.
