Hodges University names 2012 Founders’ Award recipient

Hodges University News

Hodges University announced today the recognition of Michelle Reed-Spitzer, CEO/Owner of MaidPro of Southwest Florida as the recipient of the 2012 Founders Award – an honor presented annually to an outstanding Hodges University graduate who has provided outstanding and distinguished service to our community.  The Award will be presented at the 16th annual Humanitarian of the Year Awards luncheon, Thursday, February 23 at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club.

After having earned her Bachelor of Science in Management in 1997, she converted her privately owned cleaning service into the ninth MaidPro franchise in the United States. By 2002, MaidPro of Southwest Florida was the company’s number one operation, and it all started with one of her first assignments as a Hodges student.

“Dr. Gene Landrum, the founder of the Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant franchise, gave us the assignment of writing a business plan,” said Reed-Spitzer. “At the time, I was cleaning homes to earn extra money for school, so I wrote about the business that would eventually become Michelle’s Classy Cleaning. A few years later, I changed it to MaidPro of Southwest Florida.”

Today, her multi-million dollar franchise has been awarded the Business Builder Award, and employs over 70 workers, serving clients in Lee and Collier counties, with additional expansion planned for Charlotte and Sarasota Counties.

Reed-Spitzer will be honored along with Bill and Nancy Lascheid, the 2012 Humanitarians of the Year. The event is being generously sponsored by CenturyLink. Other sponsors include Stock Development, GATES, Fifth Third Bank, Softrim Corporation, Office Furniture & Design Concepts, Regal Electric, Verizon, Zeno Office Solutions, Gulfshore Life and Gulfshore Business. For more information, phone (239) 938-7826.
