Hodges University names 2012 Excellence in Diversity awardees
Hodges University and its Diversity Committee has selected the awardees for the 2012 Hodges University Individual Excellence in Diversity and the Corporate Excellence in Diversity Awards. Both will be honored by the Diversity Committee at the 5th Annual Hodges University Diversity Festival at Sugden Regional Park in Naples, Florida on March 3, 2012.
HU Individual Excellence in Diversity Award Recipient: Debra Frenkel
Ms. Frenkel is the founder and executive director of the Freedom Waters Foundation (FWF). Its mission is to provide boating opportunities and marine related education for people with disabilities, special needs and youth at risk. The Foundation provides marine-based, social, environmental programs for unique individuals, their families and friends through direct service and community partnerships. Recently, Frenkel, along with co-founder John Weller, were announced as one of the YachtWorld Foundation’s 2011 YachtWorld Heroes, at the Miami International Boat Show, lending this local charity- international recognition for service to others.
HU Corporate Excellence in Diversity Award recipient: Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida
Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida (MHASWFL) is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, non-governmental voluntary citizen organization whose primary goals are to promote healthy emotional and mental development. Their mission is to advocate for mental wellness through education, prevention and support. Since 1957, MHASWFL has worked to achieve its mission through broad-based community programs and has connected many in need of mental health services to mental health care providers.
