Hodges University named Collier County Business of the Month
Hodges University was today named the Collier County Business of the Month for June, 2012, by the County Board of Commissioners. The honor is in recognition of the research project recently completed by Dr. Aysegul Timur, Chair of the Business Administration program at the Johnson School of Business. The university was nominated for the honor by the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.
During the presentation, Collier County Manager Leo Ochs, Jr. also offered his personal thanks to the university and Dr. Timur. “Her comparative counties study evaluated the economic development programs across the country and around the state, will hopefully be a guide to all of us in this community as we move forward, struggling with diversifying and improving jobs and our local economy,” he said.
“We are honored to be recognized by the County Commissioners and the Naples Chamber as the Business of the Month,” said HU President Terry McMahan. “The study that Dr. Timur and her team of researchers put together is of great beneficial importance to our community. As the county moves forward through uncertain economic times, research projects such as this can serve as an idea starter, and will hopefully stimulate further discussion on the future of the county in the months and years ahead.”
The research project identified possible areas of opportunity where the Collier County Business Community and County Government might best work together, by considering and comparing what has worked well within other identified Counties. The specific emphasis is on what structure those counties utilize and the effectiveness of that structure for the delivery of economic development and diversity.
