Hodges Foundation Board Chair to deliver 2013 commencement address

Hodges University announced today that Randy Brock, HU Foundation Board Chairman, will deliver the keynote speech at Hodges University’s 23rd Annual Commencement Ceremony, June 9, at Germain Arena in Estero.

In 2004, Randy Brock was elected as the 28th State Auditor of the State of Vermont and served until his term expired in 2007. He was the first African-American to be elected to statewide office in Vermont. He was twice elected to the Vermont State Senate and was the Republican Party nominee for Governor of Vermont in 2012.

Currently, Mr. Brock serves as Chairman of the Board of the Hodges University Foundation.  He is also a Trustee of the Vermont Historical Society and a Trustee of the Vermont Law School. He formerly served on the National Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association where he was Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.  

“Randy is a gifted speaker, talented businessman, and accomplished politician,” said President Terry McMahan. “He understands our mission and is a strong advocate for our students. I know they will be inspired by his message.”

Brock previously served as Executive Vice President of Risk Oversight, and earlier as General Auditor, for Fidelity Investments, one of the world's largest providers of financial services. He led a combined organization at Fidelity that included the internal audit, regulatory compliance, ethics, corporate risk management, records management and corporate security groups.

Other career highlights include his appointment by President George W. Bush to the Board of Visitors of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he also served as the Board’s 2010 and 2011Vice Chairman.

Brock served in Vietnam as a Captain in the Army Military Police Corps. He holds the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service and the Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. He holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MA degree from Yale University.
