At the luncheon, the Hispanic Institute will share the findings of a research survey project conducted by Dr. Thomas Hofmann, Director of the Master in Mental Health Counseling Program at Hodges University. The project discusses the socio-economic challenges and opportunities in working with underserved populations in the local community.

During the event, the Hispanic Institute will honor Catholic Charities as its 2012 Promise Award recipient.  The Award is presented to a community group or member who exemplifies society’s most valued human characteristics and thus serves as a distinguished example of social responsibility, determination, dedication, honesty, and moral character.

“We are pleased to honor Peter Routsis-Arroyo of Catholic Charities in recognition of their hard work and commitment to our community,” said Carmen Rey-Gomez, director of the Hispanic Institute. Mr. Routsis-Arroyo is the CEO of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Venice.

“Catholic Charities exemplifies society’s most valued characteristics and serves as a distinguished example of social responsibility, determination and dedication,” said Rey-Gomez. “The Institute is pleased to recognize Catholic Charities for the incredible work they do day in and day out for our community.”
