Girls in Lee and Collier Counties to Participate in Aspire IT Camps
The field of technology
is not just for boys anymore. Aspire IT Programming Technology Summer Camps are

“The mission of the
AspireIT camp is to encourage and engage our young ladies in grades 5-12 with
technology resources and instruction to enable them to make informed decisions
about their future careers, particularly technology careers, so as to increase
their meaningful participation in technology fields,” said Tracey Lanham, program
chair of computer information technology at Hodges University.
Alexa Brandstetter, who
serves as the program leader for the camps, works closely with Lanham to
establish the curriculum each year, making sure the girls are “equally

discouraging to hear that 25 percent of the STEM field is made up of women.
These camps are a great way to show these girls the opportunities that exist in
technology and how applying for jobs in the field of STEM will do nothing but
help them,” said Brandstetter.
