Fisher School of Technology gains national certification
The Fisher School of Technology at Hodges University announced today that its courseware has been certified by the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) Program. With this certification, the School meets all of the elements required of the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Training standards for 4011/4013E. The School will be formally recognized at the 17th Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education in June, 2013.
“The Committee is the only national forum with a Presidential mandate to issue national security policy,” said Professor Al Ball, Undergraduate Program Chair for the Fisher School of Technology. “It is an honor to have Hodges University’s continued work in Information Assurance education recognized by the National Security Agency, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. We look forward to helping students become the next generation of cyber security professionals."
The goal of these programs is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in Information Assurance and producing a growing number of professionals with Information Assurance expertise in various disciplines. The IACE is an academic outreach program of the National Security Agency and the Central Security Service.
IACE systematically assesses the degree to which courseware from commercial, government, and academic sources maps to the national standards set by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS).
As a certified institution, the curricula at Hodges meet the minimum standards for the duties and responsibilities of Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professionals, NSTISSI 4011; and System Administrators (SA), CNSSI 4013.
With the honor, Al Ball, chair of the Fisher School of Technology, will accept the designation at the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) summit next June. The Colloquium's goal is to work together to define current and emerging requirements for information assurance education and to influence and encourage the development and expansion of information assurance curricula, especially at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
