Center for Lifelong Learning to host free lecture on staying fit past 50

Hodges University News

The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at Hodges University will present a free lecture on fitness after the age of 50. The lecture will be held on Thursday, December 6, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Hodges Naples campus, 2655 Northbrooke Drive, just off I-75, in Naples.

What are the positive effects of exercise on the brain? How does exercise help avoid heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other medical issues that we don’t even want to think about? What foods should we buy and why? What’s the difference between a walk and a stroll? Why do both frequency and duration of exercise matter so much? What are intervals, and why should we do them?  Instructor Harry Gaines, who was recently featured on the television show “The Doctors,” will conduct the session. This is not a physical exercise class.

This session of the CLL is free of charge and open to the public, but pre-registrations are requested. For more information, please call (239) 598-6143.
