A member of Hodges University’s faculty since 2012, Professor Thomas Pear has taught communication and English at the college level since 2002.
Earning his bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida State University, he was a member of the speech and debate team, winning various speaking awards. Pear also received his master’s in public affairs journalism from Regent University and completed 24 hours of post-graduate work in communication at Regent and Gonzaga universities. He has also completed post-graduate work in English.
His professional experience includes work in print and broadcast journalism, and in 2006, he was selected as Teacher of the Year at Southwest Florida College. There is speculation that he is Hugo the mascot; however, as a true journalist, he has opted to keep the identity of Hugo a mystery.
In his free time, Pear is an avid runner, swimmer and open water swimmer. He has swam around Key West twice. Learn more about Professor Pear on our blog.
