A native of Columbus, Ohio, Susan Calhoun has been a member of the Hodges faculty for seven years. Earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University, she worked for the Ohio Department of Highways as an information writer in the Bureau of Public Relations. Traveling throughout the state, she interviewed and wrote articles for various State of Ohio publications, engineering magazines, newspaper releases and more. She then went to work for her alma mater in its publications division as an editorial assistant, writing news article and editing magazines, journals and other written pieces for the College of Education.
Her decision to move to Florida led to roles in marketing and sales for an architectural firm and manufacturing companies. In 2008, she graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a master’s degree in English. Since moving to Florida, she has worked as a market analyst for an international consulting firm and a salesperson for fine jewelry. However, her work in higher education includes nine years in administration at Florida State College, five years in the provost’s office at Florida Gulf Coast University and seven years as a professor at Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State College and Hodges University.
In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, photography, hiking, kayaking, singing and playing the piano.
