Joining Hodges University in 2014, Rachael D’Andrea has more than 30 years of experience in Health Information Management. Her areas of expertise include health information and informatics management, diagnosis-related groups, clinical documentation improvement, and health care quality improvement.
D’Andrea’s professional experience includes working in acute care, home health, software development and education. Serving as an educator, active committee member of ADIMA’s Grassroots Initiative and a state, national and international consultant, she continues to pursue and advance her knowledge of the health care management profession.
Apart from her academic responsibilities, she serves as the president of CtHIMA, the local Connecticut Health Information Management professional organization that is affiliated with the nationally-recognized American Health Information Management Association. As president, she works to advance the profession and organization through escalating HIM knowledge and expertise throughout the state and internationally; expanding local educational programs to include Systematic Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT), data analysis, complex HER concepts and other evolving disciplines.
Outside of work, she enjoys practicing yoga, kayaking, ornithology and gardening.
