A licensed attorney and certified public accountant (CPA), Dr. Larry Wolod’s research interests include accounting, business law and taxation. An adjunct faculty member at Hodges University, Wolod brings a wealth of professional experience to the classroom.
For more than 20 years, he served in tax and legal management positions in public accounting and private industry. Recently, he served as vice president of tax and legal for a Fortune 1000 company in Houston. As the chief tax and legal officer, he assisted with tax structuring related to the company’s IPO and directed all global tax and legal activities, including the company’s tax compliance and accounting activities. He also coordinated and directed all IRS and state audit activity, developed and implemented tax minimization strategies, managed all litigation and defense for the company, and provided tax and legal counsel to operating companies.
Wolod has published articles on tax planning and tax disclosures, as well as the ability to shield taxpayers from understatement penalties through such disclosures.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading and watching sports.
