A member of the Hodges University ESL faculty since 2010, Professor Jesus Hernandez has more than 20 years of experience teaching English and additional subjects in the public school system. From 1999-2008, he served as a teacher in Springfield and Hartford Public Schools. During that time, he established skills, ability and experience, which he then took with him to Cornelius A. Moylan Elementary School in Hartford, Connecticut. From 2006-08, he taught a sixth grade dual language class.

Prior to his work in the Springfield and Hartford Public Schools, he was a foreign language teacher in his early years at Springfield Public Schools. For seven years, he worked at Alice Beal Elementary School and Forest Park Middle School in Springfield, Massachusetts. His experience included teaching Spanish from first to sixth grade at Alice Beal Elementary School, and teaching mathematics for eighth graders at Forest Park Middle School. From 1999-2001, he served as an instructor for an ESL class at the University of Hartford, and he has mentored student teachers who were a part of the education program at the University of Connecticut and Trinity College.

Opting to pursue credits beyond his master’s degree, Hernandez has earned 60 credits, which has reinforced his currency and versatility in teaching.
