An adjunct faculty member in the Legal Studies program at Hodges University, Jaclyn Balan joined the university in 2016. Bringing her expertise in civil and criminal procedure, research and writing, and juvenile justice, Balan is excited to be teaching legal studies at Hodges.

Prior to her arrival at Hodges, she worked as a judicial extern for the Chief Judge of Family Court while in law school. She performed legal research and wrote briefs and memoranda. Deciding that she would rather teach than practice law, she served as a middle school teacher for three and a half years. As a teacher, she developed writing and legal studies programs at the middle school level and served as a writing coach and curriculum trainer for the language arts department.

Balan is a two-time nominee for the Lee County Golden Apple Teacher Award, and in her spare time, she enjoys teaching yoga, reading and spending time with her loved ones.
