Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Cynthia Vaccarino joined Hodges University’s School of Allied Health as the chair of the Physical Therapy Assistant program in 2014. She has served as an adjunct faculty member since 2012.
Before joining Hodges full time, Vaccarino spent more than 19 years working as a physical therapist for Lee Health and as a therapy manager for Home Health from 2009-2014. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to classroom having worked in acute care, outpatient, neurology, orthopedics, trauma, skilled nursing facilities and home health.
A member of the Lee Health Leadership Faculty, she facilitates leadership classes to the leaders at Lee Health. She also designed, developed and taught the annual Post-Acute Stroke Symposium and continues to serve as a resource to the health system and community.
Vaccarino is an active member of FPTA and APTA, and her work has led to various awards and recognitions, including the Lee Health Presidents Circle (2010) and (2012), the Lee Hecht Harrison’s Coaching for Results Facilitator and Alpha Cta Society.
Outside the classroom, Vaccarino channels her inner athlete by playing women’s hockey. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
