About This Event
Art is for
Everyone with Rona Steingart
Our homes have "pictures" on the walls making
everyone an art collector. How did you acquire your "art?" Perhaps
you inherited it, and it has been part of the life of your family for
generations. Perhaps an interior designer selected pieces that were just the
right colors to enhance your decor. Have you purchased art on vacation trips,
hung it proudly in your home enjoying the memories? Learn about world-famous art collectors Steven Spielberg
and Leonard Lauder, son of Estee Lauder, who have enriched our lives by
donating their priceless art collections to American museums. Save Tuesday
afternoons in February for this unique art experience. We will learn and participate
in workshops where we will see art being made today in university art studios.
What makes art "good?" Naples has a rich and varied art community. We
will visit the Naples Art Association, view a national, juried show and learn
how and where to buy art on "your" budget in our community. Two
lectures will broaden your understanding of "modern art." Register
now. This group will be limited to 20 people.
Contemporary Art Moves to America
Tuesday, February 6, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
The breathtaking, realistic work of James Whistler, Thomas Eakins and Winslow Homer will be presented in
context with America moving from an agrarian society toward industrialization
and an enormous population growth. American Impressionism
is often overlooked by art historians but is as fascinating as French Impressionism.
This presentation will astonish and thrill you with its beauty. Rona Steingart
encourages group discussion during her PowerPoint presentations.
