July 2013 Student of the Month
My name is Nisa Staruch. I am passionate about school and I work as a work-study student in the Fort Myers library. I have a great sense of humor. My most unique experience was being submerged into the Puerto Rican culture and school system as a child without knowing a word of Spanish. I am now bi-lingual.
Some of my hobbies include, bargain shopping, reading, and going to the beach. I love to watch horror movies and also Lifetime movies, which I realize is a major contradiction! I tried learning to knit, but that did not work out very well.
Why did you choose Hodges University?
I chose Hodges University because it is a small non-profit college. The smaller classroom size gives students more one-on-one time, which is extremely helpful.
What do you like best about Hodges University?
Hodges University has a great library and faculty. The staff is friendly and ready to help, and the professors go out of their way to help students.
What is your favorite class at Hodges University and why?
My two favorite classes are College Math and Introduction to Law. I enjoyed Introduction to Law because it was interesting to learn about the different types of law as well as the US Constitution. I learned to apply the information from that class to better understand events that happen around the world.
Previous college/educational experience:
I do not have any previous college experience. In middle school I was in honor classes. In 10th grade, I was in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and in the 11th grade I moved to Port Charlotte and took AP and honor classes because the school did not have an IB program.
