More About Public Administration >
MPA graduates are required to successfully complete prescribed course work in the public administration core component, 33 semester hour credits. The Public Administration Core courses are designed to provide the student with a solid grounding in executive competencies that may be employed in advanced public administration. These courses are designed to develop competencies and legal awareness that the public sector requires of MPA graduates and skills that differentiate the MPA graduate as an executive level decision maker. The completion of core courses demonstrates the student’s proficiency in public administration knowledge. MPA graduates must satisfactorily complete the MPA Comprehensive Examination and Professional Portfolio, which is a collection of documents that exhibits students’ progress and development over the span of their academic tenure to foster the skills that will enable them to be lifelong learners.
The Unique Hodges Approach>
1. PROFESSORS WITH EXPERTISE Professional and innovative business applications are stressed throughout the MPA Curriculum, taught by professors holding earned doctorates and possessing significant field experience. The MPA Faculty are scholarly practitioners who have worked in the real world and bring their experience and expertise into the classroom. That’s what differentiates the JSOB MPA program from other programs — the professors represent positive role models who help students develop the competencies that will distinguish them in the public sector.
2. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING The MPA Program can be completed in an online format, an in-class format, or a combination of both, in as little as two years, for qualifying students. Students go to school on their own schedules. Day, evening, online, and weekend classes allow you to work and go to school at the same time.
3. SMALL CLASS SIZE The esteemed MPA faculty work one on one with students because class sizes are small. You will always be treated as an individual, not a number. MPA graduates often say that their professors have become their mentors due to individual attention. These graduates take what the professors have taught in the classroom and apply it to their jobs and their lives.
