More About Medical Assisting >
If you care about people and you care about your future, get the education you need to become a key member of the healthcare team. Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing professions in the country.

At the heart of healthcare, most medical assistants work in physicians’ offices or clinics, helping to provide care to patients by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. The combination of both administrative and clinical training makes the medical assistant a valuable member of the healthcare team.

Medical assisting is an established profession with professional associations and a standardized educational curriculum. In addition to the recognized academic excellence of the program, students receive instruction from professors who bring real-world experience to the classroom. Not only do students learn the theory, they also share in the practical experience of professionals in the field. Hands-on procedural training in the laboratory and classroom followed by an internship in a medical practice prepares the student not only for graduation, but for successful entry into the field.

The Associate in Science in Medical Assisting degree qualifies the graduate to sit for the examination for the credential of Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)—the hallmark of recognition in the healthcare community. Certification proudly proclaims the graduate’s achievement of academic and clinical excellence.
