Hodges University is gearing up for its Tenth Annual Spring Golf Classic. The event will be held on March 29 at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers. The event will begin with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. One-hundred percent of the proceeds are dedicated to providing critical scholarship support
for Hodges University students.
The Honorary Chair of the tournament this year is Tom Horton. “Tom has been a great friend and supporter of our institution for many years,” said Phil Memoli, Vice President of University Advancement. “He was responsible for
organizing our first golf tournament and actually chaired it for the first two years. We thought it was appropriate for the tenth anniversary of the tournament to name him as our distinguished honorary chair.
“We’re bringing the event back to Fiddlesticks Country Club where so many of Tom’s friends have supported the event in the past. We’re looking forward to another great year.”
To date, nearly $500,000 has been raised to provide scholarships for deserving students.
“I was part of the first tournaments at Hodges many years ago, and I’m honored to be able to come back and do what I can for them again this year” said Tom Horton.
Memoli also commented on the importance of scholarships for Hodges students. “Supporting these students is an investment in our community, to assure the skilled workforce we need to drive the economic development of our community,” he said. “Hodges University students live, work and raise their families here. Their ambition and determination to seek advanced degrees is vital to serving the current and future needs of our citizens.”
