The Academic Committee of Hodges University has named Kathie Gatewood the student of the month for August. Kathie is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Management degree.
Originally from Pinellas County, Kathie started college in her twenties but life responsibilities prevented her from finishing. After many years in the workforce, Kathie came to realize that a degree would help her advance in her profession. She started at Hodges last fall in the BSM program and looks to graduate at the end of this year.
“I have had an enormously positive experience here at Hodges,” she says, “and I look forward to starting my Master’s degree in January.”
Kathie enjoys spending her free time with her 13-year-old son, visiting state parks, visiting beaches and watching ice hockey.
So far, Kathie’s favorite class has been the Performance Analyses for Managers course with Dr. Smith.
“The trimester project for analyzing a local company was extremely challenging,” she says. “I learned a great deal, and it was fun to discover new things about my chosen company as well as the companies of other students.”
As the student of the month, Kathie will receive a formal letter with the nomination comments for her portfolio and files, a certificate and a $100 tuition credit.
