Hodges University has named Dr. Cynthia Vaccarino as the new chair of its Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. She joined Hodges University’s School of Allied Health as an adjunct professor teaching Anatomy and Physiology in 2012. Dr. Vaccarino has taught and mentored in both Physical Therapy and PTA programs throughout her career.
Prior to joining Hodges University, Dr. Vaccarino worked as a physical therapist for Lee Memorial Health Systems (LHMS) and was the Therapy Manager for Home Health. She has worked in a variety of settings for LMHS including acute care, outpatient, neurology, orthopedics, trauma, skilled nursing facility, and home health.
Dr. Vaccarino is a member of the Lee Memorial Leadership Faculty were she facilitates leadership classes to the leaders of LMHS. She also designed, developed and taught the annual Post-Acute Stroke Symposium for LMHS and continues to be a resource to the health system and the community. She is an active member of Florida Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Vaccarino received a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston MA.
