Students Complete Certified Financial Planning Program At International College
Four students have successfully completed International College’s certified financial planning program. The students are: Fran Cross, of Fort Myers; Nancy McGee, of Fort Myers; Paula Kaminski, of North Fort Myers; and Raymond Kidwell, of Marco Island. They were the first students enrolled in the College’s certified financial planner program, which started in January 2001. The program, approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, is a post-baccalaureate program that can be earned on its own or as a minor in accounting, business administration or management. It prepares students to become financial advisers at banks and other financial institutions. All four are eligible and plan to sit for the national CFP Certification Examination, which will be held Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16. The 10-hour exam covers the fundamentals of financial planning, insurance planning, income tax planning, retirement planning and employee benefits, investments and estate planning. Program courses in financial planning begin on May 15.
