The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges University will host a free lecture on how caregivers can lighten their workload. The lecture will be held at
the Barrington Terrace Learning Center, 5175 Tamiami Trail East, in Naples on Monday, July 11 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
During this presentation participants will gain an understanding of “compassion fatigue”, brought on by the stressors and demands of caring for an elderly or ill loved one. Participants will review the four steps necessary to develop the plans and resources one needs to deal with this challenge. The presentation will also look at various wellness techniques, such as meditation and counseling that can decrease the stress and prevent caregiver compassion fatigue. Finally, instructor Margot Escott will draw on personal and professional experience to point out the humorous aspects of care giving and how one can find the humor in difficult situations.
The session is free of charge and reservations are not required. For more information, please contact Sarah Eldridge at (239) 598-6210.
