Elizabeth Whitmer, RHIT, FAAMT, a summa cum laude graduate of Hodges University, was recently honored at the annual Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA) Convention in Orlando.
Whitmer received the Literary Award, recognizing her excellence in leadership and significant contributions to the profession over an extended period of time. This was evident in her commitment to local, state and national HIM organizations.
She also received a Two-year Director Award for her role as Director for the FIRE Committee (Find, Inspire, Recruit, Educate), which represented her service in strengthening the goals of the organization and reflects the best among those serving in the profession.
Made up of health information management professionals working in hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, and private medical practices throughout the state, FHIMA provides industry support through facilitation of a variety of educational programs. Whitmer is President of the local chapter of FHIMA.
Currently, Whitmer is employed as Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer for CHS Healthcare, a private, not-for-profit primary provider with a network of twelve offices throughout Collier County providing health care to more than 43,000 people annually.
