IC Expands Degree Offerings

With new student registrations already underway, classes for the new fall term at International College begin on September 11, 2006. The new semester will see several new academic programs offered at the college which is comprised by a School of Professional Studies, School of Technology, School of Allied Health and the Kenneth Oscar Johnson School of Business.

For students pursuing a career in the business of healthcare, International College now has a new Associate Degree in Health Administration.

Program Chair Dr. Carlene Harrison says curriculum is designed to prepare students for entry level administrative positions in the healthcare industry.

The College has additionally redesigned the Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Administration to provide in an accelerated format for healthcare professionals seeking a bachelor’s degree and higher level management positions in healthcare.

Individuals with an Associate Degree in a clinical field may be eligible to complete the Bachelor’s program in less time than a traditional bachelor’s degree.

"The need for healthcare managers continues to escalate throughout Florida and the nation," says Dr. Harrison. "The two academic programs that International College offers will provide individuals with the training necessary to pursue a successful management career in this fast growing industry."

International College’s School of Technology will additionally offer new course emphasis in the program leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management.

Program Chair Professor Dave Rice says the new curriculum will focus on graphic design and desktop publishing.

"We’ve structured this program to include input from the professional community, harnessing creative talent from local media and commercial endeavors so students can complement their subject understanding with insight from those working fulltime in the field. We expect this will help students develop their skills and better understand the range of job opportunities that exist throughout the region," says Rice.
