Center for Nonprofit Excellence to hold governance workshop

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence at Hodges University will offer a governance workshop on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hodges Naples campus, 2655 Northbrooke Drive.

This session will look at the different qualities of a nonprofit’s board, whether it is a working board, a giving board, or a rubber-stamp board. It will examine a board’s role in governance, advocacy, and fundraising. The session will start with the basics and work toward the best practices of board development and function.

The session will be conducted by John C. Riley, President of Riley Philanthropy.  Mr. Riley is a Certified Fund Raising Executive who has worked in the nonprofit sector since 1995. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international
studies from Emory University and a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Georgia State University.  He is the President of the Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising Professionals of Collier County and is a board member of the Everglades Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Executive Directors, board members and staff or volunteers are all encouraged to attend. For more information, log onto or call 239-598-6284.
