Christine Wheeler, Director of the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges, and Director of the HU Professional Development Center, was recently honored by the Greater Naples American Association of University Women (AAUW) Charitable Foundation, Inc. at their annual Women of Achievement celebration.
Wheeler was among eight local women honored by the chapter for their contribution to our local community. The honorees were nominated based on their contributions to reinforcing the AAUW mission in advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.
In recognizing Wheeler for her efforts in the community, the AAUW praised her for both her work at Hodges and her volunteer activities outside the school. “Christine Wheeler lives by the adage “For whom much is given, much is required,” and it’s clear she achieves that goal in her incredibly busy professional and volunteer life.”
“I give credit to my father with inspiring me to find not just a job, but a career that I would love and that would give me a lifetime of fulfillment,” said Wheeler. I feel blessed to have found such fulfillment at Hodges. I am surrounded every day by people who want to learn, who want to share with others, and who value education as much as I do. Dad was right!”
