The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges University announced today its plans to host two community service projects, both with our American troops in mind.
Members of the Center will be conducting a letter writing campaign, thanking the U.S. Armed Forces service personnel for their hard work and sacrifices. The Center has invited members of the University staff and faculty to join in the letter writing as well.
The Center has also initiated a DVD collection where pre-viewed and new DVD’s will be collected and sent to service men and women as well. “Many soldiers have laptops or portable DVD players and enjoy watching movies when they get a chance,” said Christine Wheeler, Director of the Center. "It is important that we all take time to thank these brave heroes who are fighting for our country, and to let them know we’re thinking of them and are proud of them," she said.
Both projects will continue until April 2nd when all of the letters and DVD’s will be sent to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. For more information, contact Christine Wheeler at (239) 598-6133.
