Hispanic Institute recognized by Lee County Commissioners

At a recent session, the Lee County Commissioners formally recognized the Hispanic Institute at Hodges University as “a valued resource with an essential role in the community,” and proclaimed September 14, 2012 as “Hispanic Institute Day” in Lee County.

“This is an incredible honor recognizing the achievements of the Institute,” said Director Carmen Rey-Gomez. “Through strong community partnerships, the Institute has been able to grow and to develop programs and research that are critical in the continued growth of the Hispanic community in our area. We are also extremely grateful for the contributions of the Hodges University faculty and students, as well as local leaders, which have been equally as immeasurable in the success of the Institute.”

Most recently, the Hispanic Institute issued the findings of a research survey project conducted which discusses the socio-economic challenges and opportunities in working with underserved populations in the local community. To access the findings of the report, or for more information about the Hispanic Institute, contact Carmen Rey-Gomez at (239) 938-7793.
