The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges University will host a free lecture on classical music on Wednesday, August 19 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. The session, “The Classical Style Period (1750-1820)”
will be held at Homewood Residence, 770 Goodlette Road (located in The Commons), in Naples.
Not all classical music is from the classical style period. The multimedia presentation will focus on the period of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. Also known as the Age of Reason, the Age of Revolution, the Classical Period saw the change of the status of the composer. The discussion will feature great music and musicians in historical perspective.
The session will be conducted by Dr. Ron Bowman. Dr. Bowman is the Vice President of Student Development and Dean of Students at Hodges University. He holds a doctorate in music from Florida State University and is a frequent lecturer on many musical topics in the community. A classical baritone, Dr. Bowman is the president of the Naples Opera Society and appears frequently in concerts and operas.
