Hodges names chair for new marketing program

Hodges University announced today that it has named Dr. Karen McKenzie as Program Chair of its new Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Branding Program, which will begin offering classes this summer.  Dr. McKenzie has been with the Johnson School of Business for three years, teaching for the Business and Management departments, and is also an advisor to the Hodges Business Club.

"Marketing is crucial to the success of any business," explained Dr. McKenzie.  "The fields of marketing and branding have really grown in the last few years, especially due to social media and other digital forms of promotions.  The curriculum for this program is designed to give students a strong foundation in applied and theoretical knowledge of core marketing activities as well as the ability to plan, develop, and market new brands.

"Nearly every type of business or industry utilizes marketing professionals in some way.  Job options for degree holders include careers in advertising, brand management, market research, and public relations."

The Hodges program will address topics such as strategic retail merchandising; product quality management; internet, e-commerce, and social media marketing; building powerful brands; supply chain management; as well as key elements of advertising and public relations. In addition, buyer and consumer behavior will be studied using a behavioral science approach that examines buyer strategies and decision-making processes by organizational buyers and consumers.
