Professor Tracey Lanham, a member of the Fisher School of Technology faculty and advisor for the Technology Society, has received the Anita Borg Systers Pass-It-On Award for her work in helping to educate young girls about career fields in technology.
Professor Lanham is being honored for developing “Girls In Tech: A Hands-On Experience,” a one-day technology fair targeted at attracting girls and women to come to the Hodges University campus and experience various aspects of technology as well as to participate in many hands-on activities.
The award, named for the late computer scientist, honors Anita Borg’s desire to create a network of technical women helping one another. The awards, funded by donations from the Systers Online Community, are intended as means for women established in technological fields to support women seeking their place in the fields of technology. The program is called “Pass-It-On” because it comes with the moral obligation to “pass on” the benefits gained from the award.
