International College Legal Studies Student Named Collier Legal Support Professional of the Year

Collier Legal Support Professionals (CLSP) has named International College legal studies student Amanda Rimes the Legal Support Professional of the Year. It is the first time an International College student has received the honor.

The prestigious annual award is given to a legal support professional who demonstrates exemplary leadership skills, dedication to the profession, and innovation.

“Amanda is intelligent, outgoing, a leader, and an elite member of the top students in the legal studies program,” said Jim Hodge, Legal Studies Chair. “Amanda also stands out because of her leadership abilities.”

For the past two years, Rimes has worked as a paralegal for Cary A. Cliff, a Naples attorney specializing in family law. Before that, Rimes was employed with the Collier County Clerk of Circuit Court for 15 years.

“Amanda is one of the most dedicated, hard working legal professionals in our community. Amanda’s vast legal experience, coupled with her continuing legal education, enables her to be extremely resourceful, innovative, and a true asset to our law firm,” Cliff said. “We are extremely proud of Amanda and truly believe she deserves this honor.”

Rimes enrolled at International College in Fall 2002 to earn a degree that would back up her work experience.

“I wanted to better myself. I love to learn and understand that the more I learn, the better it will help me perform in my job,” Rimes, 41, of Naples, said. “I am deeply honored to be recognized by my peers and legal professionals in Collier County.”

Collier Legal Support Professionals also awarded scholarships to two International College students. The $500 CLSP College Scholarship was awarded to Charissa Weber, 29, of Naples. Weber plans to attend law school after earning a bachelor’s degree and specialize in elder or environmental law.

The $500 CLSP Scholarship was awarded to Harry Parks, who recently completed the financial planning program at the College. Parks is an attorney with Parks & Stewart Law Firm in Naples.

“I’m very proud of our students. It’s thrilling to know that our students are of a high caliber and recognized in the community for their talents,” Hodge added. “The best professionals pick the best schools and the best schools produce the best professionals.”

The CLSP is an organization that seeks to further the knowledge of law and uphold its honor and integrity, while creating a higher standard of ethics among members. The group also participates in community projects that improve the lives of Collier County citizens.

International College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Degree programs are offered in 13 fields of study in legal studies, management, business, accounting, healthcare, computer information technology, and criminal justice.
