The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges University will host a free lecture on the history of hurricanes that have affected our area. The lecture will be held on October 18, 2010, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Homewood Residence, 770 Goodlette Road and 7th Avenue, in the Commons in Naples.
Each year the odds are one in twelve that a tropical storm will pass through our area. Despite the statistics, only a few storms pose a threat to our safety and well-being. This program will take a look at the major storms that have affected the southwestern region of Florida over the years.
Conducting the session will be David Southall. Mr. Southall is currently the Curator of Education at the Collier County Museum, a position he has held for the past 10 years. Mr. Southall is a graduate of S.U.N.Y at Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Master’s at Cornell University.
The session is free of charge but reservations are required. For more information, please contact Christine Wheeler at (239) 598-6210.
