Hodges University is proud to announce the recipients of several private scholarships for the summer 2010 semester. The private scholarships of Hodges University are available through the generous donations of benefactors and foundations who wish to assist students to reach their academic goals by offering financial assistance in the form of scholarships.
Neno J. Spagna Scholarship: This scholarship, established in 1993, provides financial assistance to worthy students who want to use their knowledge and abilities to improve the lives of others through the betterment of the community. The latest recipients of this scholarship include Luis Eddy Diaz, Marcia Figueroa, Justina Raimer, Mitzi Nicole Sneary, Kathleen M. Stephann Christine Stevenson, Michael D. Trumbull and Ken Wong.
Lavern N. Gaynor Scholarship: Named after the University’s 1997 Humanitarian of the Year, this scholarship provides tuition assistance to individuals pursuing the benefits of higher education. The scholarships were awarded to Mitsu Andre, Lorraine Castaldo, Debbi Cross, Sarah Hawkins, Staelmara Mello, Michele Ortega, Manivone Phommarinh, Carina Salvatore and Carol N. Tofino.
Jerry and Arlene Nichols Scholarship: Named after the University’s 2008 Humanitarians of the Year, this scholarship provides tuition assistance to individuals pursuing the benefits of higher education. Recipients for the summer semester include Robert Berens, Cecilia Buitrago, Denise Ciancaglini, Valdilene Lucas de Lima and Danielle Taylor.
The Jerry L. and Barbara J. Burris Foundation Scholarship: This award, named after Jerry and Barbara Burris, is designed to provide financial support to a single parent, male or female. This term, the scholarship is being presented to Sheila Handley.
Earl and Thelma Hodges Scholarship: Named after the University’s namesakes, this scholarship provides tuition assistance to individuals pursuing the benefits of higher education. The summer term recipient is Michael Klein.
Terry and Christine Flynn Scholarship: Named after the University’s 2009 Humanitarians of the Year, recipients for the summer semester include Anna I. Barbosa, Jeanette H. Blair, Jamie Carioggia, Jared DeAngelo, Maria Desouza, Rose R. Francois, Ashley Nicole Glenn, Elenia Hagins, Olivet Taylor Long, Joseph L. Louis, Mario Luis Martinez, Katheryn Moreno, Debra C. Nickens, Sean Oliveira, Trang T.M. Pham, Chrissandro Smith, Maria P. Sotuyo, Valeria Suarez and Carlos Tellez.
The John and Joanne Fisher Grant Fund, a scholarship named after Hodges University Trustee John Fisher and his wife, is being awarded to John C. White, Jr.
Friends of the University: This scholarship is funded by donations from private donors, institutional fund raising and other sources. The summer 2010 recipients are Gino Hydes, Jessenia Peralta, Michael Horn, Eden Parente, David J. Durnell, Catherine J.S. Nadeau, Sierra Borio, Joan Miller, Angela Marla Molina, Melanie Brauer, Samanda Senat, Silvana Sapone, Kathryn Perkins, Ariel Perez, Mandy Dominguez, Dorothea Tocco, Collen Marley and Bethany Lehman.
Moorings Park Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship provides financial assistance to worthy students interested in a career in healthcare. The summer 2010 recipient is Joshua Lee.
ICUF Ethics Award Scholarship: This scholarship provides financial assistance to worthy students studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree. The summer 2010 recipients are Pedro Almeida and Daiana Raina Lopez.
The Local Employers Scholarship is being awarded to Michael Eaker.
